Crunchyroll has announced that Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will return to theaters in 4K from May 14. It will be available in the North America (US, Canada) and select international territories. A re-release trailer and visual were revealed.
The 2020 movie announced a revival screening in Japan for May 9, and now international fans will also get a chance to enjoy the movie again as we head towards the first Infinity Castle movie. This will be the first theatrical re-release of the film since its original run, after which it became the highest-grossing anime movie of all time worldwide.
Haruo Sotozaki directed the movie, and you can watch the re-release trailer below.

Revival Screening Goes With Technical Enhancements
For this screening, the movie has been up-converted to 4K resolution, and both the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Cinema audio have been remixed. While details about the international releases will vary from country to country, the movie confirmed multiple premium formats for Japan, including:
- IMAX® – Large-format screening
- Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema – Enhanced surround sound
- 4DX & MX4D – Motion-synchronized seating and environmental effects

The Mugen Train re-release precedes the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the first movie in the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy. It revealed a new visual and the first look at the 2025 promotion reel, with the release date set for July 18, 2025. The film will roll out internationally shortly after Japan, with global release dates set between August 14 and September 25.

Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, concluding with 23 volumes.
The anime adaptation, produced by ufotable, premiered in 2019. Its first theatrical movie, Mugen Train, released in 2020, and overtook Spirited Away and Your Name the highest-grossing anime movie of all time. It was also re-edited into episodes for TV broadcast, which are now streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix as the Mugen Train Arc.
