Stay Updated on Nintendo Games and More With the New App Nintendo Today!

Nintendo has released a new mobile app called Nintendo Today (stylized with an exclamation point), available now for compatible iOS and Android devices. The free app offers daily updates and features related to Nintendo games, characters, and events. Users must have a Nintendo Account to access the app’s content.

The app provides a range of content, including news updates, comic strips, videos, and other media focused on Nintendo franchises. It is designed to personalize content based on user preferences, though the exact method of customization has not been detailed.

An animated calendar is included as a central feature, offering visual themes from well-known Nintendo series such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing. Users can choose which theme to apply and use the calendar to keep track of dates.

Another component of the app is an event schedule, which lists upcoming game releases, in-game events, and official presentations like Nintendo Directs. Events can be filtered by category or linked to games the user is currently playing, providing some degree of customization.

The app also includes a widget option for displaying calendar and content highlights directly on a user’s device home screen. These widgets can be customized with artwork from select Nintendo franchises and paired with themed wallpapers for a consistent visual presentation. The announcement was made at today’s Nintendo Direct, which also included announcements like Metroid Prime 4 and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D remake.

Nintendo Announces Nintendo Today App

Nintendo Today! appears to be part of Nintendo’s effort to expand its mobile presence and offer more direct communication with users outside of its console platforms. It follows the company’s previous mobile apps such as Nintendo Switch Online, My Nintendo, Nintendo Music and several game-specific applications.

The app is free to download and currently supports English and Japanese, with availability varying by region. Nintendo has not announced any in-app purchases or monetization features at this time.
